About

The Division, one of seventeen autonomous Divisions of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires, was established in 1937 and has grown along with the communities of Vancouver Island. With the addition of the detachment in Whitehorse, Yukon in 1999, the name was changed to Victoria, the Islands and Yukon Division to more closely describe our geographical boundaries.

Although most core functions are administered through the central office, a number of regional managers are responsible for operations in specific geographical areas.

To contact any of these offices see the contacts page.

The Commissionaires, Victoria, the Islands and Yukon Division is the largest security business in its geographical area providing security services to all levels of government, industry, small business and individuals. The Division also administers guards and matrons for RCMP detachments throughout its area. With over 1000 personnel it provides a wide range of security services in the major centres and is ready to respond to any security related requirements.

For more info about our history.....

The Core strength of the Division is the Commissionaire(s) on duty. Hired primarily from the Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP, Commissionaires have developed a sense of duty and dedication that is retained for a lifetime. Most importantly, however, they have been trained to think on their feet in high stress situations where lives are at stake. They can draw from their peacekeeping and police experience to avoid high risk situations and to bring calm.

In addition to their inherent military and police training, all Commissionaires attend a Justice Institute certified course which is taught in house by experienced Commissionaires. This two week course exceeds the B.C. provincial security guard requirements.

The Commissionaires enjoys a long rich history of excellence and professionalism.

Fingerprinting Services

Commissionaires Victoria offers cutting-edge digital fingerprinting services for the fastest, most reliable results available. Commissionaires Victoria has clearance from the RCMP to capture fingerprints electronically and submit them directly to the Canadian Criminal Real Time Identification Services (CCRTIS) for processing.

For those who need it we still offer traditional ink & roll fingerprinting.
