Enrolment

Enrolment in The Commissionaires follows a structured process designed to ensure candidates meet the requirements as a security guard and can fit into the culture of the Corps.

Offers of employment will be based on the needs of the Division and successful completion of all requirements listed in the process below.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Possess a good moral character
  • Be bondable
  • Meet the criteria to obtain a provincial Security Officer licence.

Process

Step 1:

Application forms may be obtained from this web site (see below), at our Divisional Office, in Victoria (928 Cloverdale Avenue), Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM or from one of the Regional Managers (see the contacts page).

Step 2:

Following preliminary screening, applicants may be invited to an interview to confirm the details provided in the application and to determine suitability for employment.

Step 3:

All applicants must successfully complete a minimum of ten days training prior to consideration for enrolment. This will ensure we continue to provide qualified, knowledgeable and effective personnel capable of meeting all government and industry security requirements.

We provide provincially mandated Basic Standards Training (BST) course, an add on designed for Commissionaires and those who wish to qualify to the CGSB standard, Conflict Resolution training (dealing with the public) and First Aid courses at our training facility which is accredited by the Justice Institute of BC.

All Commissionaire candidates will be assessed throughout the training programme for suitability and attitude and will be required to pass and score well in the examinations.

Step 4:

Successfuly obtain a Security Officer licence .

Step 5:

Enrolment in the Corps.
